The Cupcake Project is a quirky art project I started to remind everybody that they have creativity in them!
My name is City (Felicity) and I worked for years as a graphic designer. Inspired by my experience with Art Therapy sessions, I started The Cupcake Project in 2007 to help everyone connect to their inner creativity.
By February 2008 I quit my graphic design job and started working from home living a far more creative life selling my cupcakes and crafts. I am known in the cupcake blog world as The NZ Cupcake Queen. My cupcake obsession led me to start my own cupcake blog that I regularly update with photos of my baking projects:
You can visit here! In 2009 I went back to University to start my Bachelor of Fine Arts and then my dream of a Masters in Arts Therapy.
For The Cupcake Project I'm asking everyone to draw a picture of a cupcake and then email or snail mail it to me. I then post each person’s artistic creation on my Cupcake Project blog.
Check out some of the cupcakes that have already been submitted. This site is an amazing collection of talented people, many of whom don't think they can even draw! So please spare 5mins, have some fun and get in touch with your creative side
• The image can be black & white or colour, drawn, painted, sketched, a collage, a doodle, done with pencils or felt tip pens, spray painted, sewn....whatever you want!
• It can be realistic or you can let you imagination run wild
• It could be your idea of the perfect cupcake
• Or your dream cupcake
My hope is that each person will get in touch with the bit of creativity that is inside us all but we don’t always connect with. Cupcakes are so much fun and make everyone happy. I hope this spreads my love of the humble little cupcake!
I want to see if I can get people from all over the world involved in this. So please spread the word to people you know. Get your kids involved, your friends, co-workers. Have some fun!
thanks heaps,
